Sneezes
The markets are a good choice, since they appear to be one of the busiest areas of the small town. Various stalls are set up, their pastel-toned overhangs shielding their wares from the sun. It’s mostly food for sale, but you can see a few stalls with mother-of-pearl jewelry, scrimshaw and the like.
“It’s so hard not to get distracted, don’t you think—” Hi Lazare. They’re talking to you.
:pleadside: = :pleadside: He walks with the group, but ends up focusing more on supplies hunting than actually asking around. “This looks like a good place to buy in bulk- Huh?” he mutters to himself before getting interrupted by Nazario. “Oh, yeah. Definitely.”
“I am Nazario by the way, nice to meet you. Heard lots of great things about you!” ✨ Time to be as vague as possible.
“Lazare,” he responds, mostly out of formality since it was rather clear that Nazario already seemed to know who he was. He’s not sure if he should be concerned about the things Naz has supposedly heard or not. The thought of people talking about him when he’s not around makes him frown momentarily, but he takes it in stride. “They better have been great things. Otherwise I’m gonna need some names.”
Just a reminder, Ai Ling is in here! a market channel was made for ease of communication
“It’s all complimentary, don’t you worry. Noel and Ezekiel vouched for your as their captain when I spoke to them-” they splay their hand over their chest. “…So those are my sources!” 😁
“Ehh, I ’spose that’s fine,” he says thought doesn’t seem entirely pleased. Ezekiel’s testimonies were probably alright. Noel on the otherhand may be a bit questionable albeit well-intentioned. It was at least a relief to know the sources were contained to his immediate circle and that he hasn’t actually made a reputation for himself or anything.
Not being much of a conversationalit, he’s not sure where to go from there. But he figures his job was to find a nun, not walk around and chat, so simply opts to direct their attention to the nearest shopkeep. “May as well go askin’ around. If we’re lucky, maybe there’ll be a shop ran by one of the churches or somethin’.” It wouldn’t be too far-fetched to think there’s some nuns out there selling pastries or something to raise some extra funds.
Any um… churchy looking stalls?
