Milly follows the way through the gardens, past the chicken coop towards where she saw one of the nuns enter the kitchen. It's a much cozier space than you've seen so far, with all the comforts of a lovingly maintained kitchen. Someone's even working on lunch already, and a few nuns work at various tasks.
It only takes a moment before she's spotted, and a girl almost drops an egg.
“Oh!” She startles, but catches it. "Goodness, you surprised me!"
Milly Dubois
Huh... Milly thinks maybe people were onto things with a sisterhood. Boys were so problematic and mean and- She lurches back in surprise when the egg goes splat on the floor, face quickly turning red out of embarrassment.
“Um- I'm sorry- Let me get this-” Panicking, Milly quickly drops to the floor and tries to pick up the eggshell fragments.
Annette
She squats down immediately too, helping Milly out. "No worries!" She chuckles, pulling a cloth from her pocket to wipe up the yolk. "Me and my nerves, I'm just all jittery today!" She looks up to smile at Milly, and notes the outfit she has on. "Are you here to join the convent? Or just visiting for the ceremony? You'll have to forgive me if we've already met, I've never been good with names and faces.."
Milly Dubois
“Oh, I'm .... I don't know but I wouldn't mind beings part of the ceremony. Sorry if I'm a bother.” Milly cluelessly looks around for any place she can dispose of the shell. "I'm Milly. I was just going to say that.... there's some weird stuff in the garden."
Annette
“Ah, I see.” So she's just trying to figure it out. Annette nods wisely, it's a big decision to decide if you want to devote your life to worship and service. "Well, you've got all week to decide if you want to be a part of the ceremony. I'm sure any of us sisters would be happy to help talk you through it too!" She smiles, and sees the way Milly's unsure what to do with the shell. "Oh, the bucket's right here for that--" She steps over to a pail near the door, then looks back. "Weird stuff?"
Milly Dubois
She chews her lip and nods, skittering over to the pail to try and slide off whatever grime she's got in her hands.
“Well um... it looks like there's a bunch of animal stuff in the compost. I don't really see that- haven't seen that before. Doesn't it make animals come too? 'Cause of the smell...”
Annette
...... :itsdarkmiryuu: "Does it really?" She jaw drops. "Sorry, um, you may wash your hands at the sink here--" She goes to do the same, but she's looking over her shoulder at Milly. "I had no idea! When we started growing more here, I was told the compost was for scraps! I guess we took at all rather at face value..." How embarrassing..
