The ship’s galley is an expansive kitchen, or a cook-room as it was once called–packed to the brim with non-perishable ingredients and spices, along with a large icebox that probably contains the meat that’s been available in meals thus far. It’s big enough to hide a body! 😁 The cook here is cleaning up from making dinner, putting things away and drying a few knives and dishes.
“Knock knock~” With the words spoken allowed, they took the back of their knuckles and knocked on the doorframe twice…. never surprise a chef in their own domain after all. “I hope you don’t mind, I wanted to pick your brain about the damn good meals we’ve been having… I can help clean in return of course.”
The chef’s thin gaze catches on Jesse immediately, the slide of a knife returned to its holding block punctuating the new presence. “…. A compliment’s a good start.” They seem to have a handle on things though, lifting a sack of flour and taking it to slide into a cupboard. “But just ask.” Their tone is curt.
Hm. Curt, forward, brief. They could do that. Taking a step inside so the door could properly shut behind them, they crossed their arms while leaning against the wall, being sure to be out of the path the other was taking. “All the food has been~ incredible. Diverse flavor profiles, well seasoned, it’s been one of the most pleasant voyages I’ve had.” Compliment given.
“How are you keeping everything fresh for so long?” They eye the ice box a bit… is that….. magical? “Do you all have livestock or a lot of preserved meats?”
Jesse is clearly looking around the room as they ask questions. Give them your power!!!
There’s a noise of agreement, acknowledging their own skill. As Jesse gets closer, there’s a very clear and very large scar from a bite mark out of the chef’s throat. “Both. Preserved, and a makeshift meat locker.” Their thumb juts toward a door in the back of the galley. “There’s a cursie on the crew who can revert things to a previous state, or something. She’s made to handle our produce, so it ripens while we’re onboard.”
The room itself doesn’t appear to hold any big secrets… But if Jesse goes digging into any cupboards, drawers, the icebox, etc, just roll INT for me! <@859376444369797140>
Jay will keep that in mind.
Blinking a few times at the almost cutesy way of referring to someone damned it- almost jarring for Jesse to hear, they paused for a second. “That individual is a fortunate find. My condolences to them and congratulations to you.”
“The captain must have one hell of a silver tongue with her knowing all the right people… and having them follow her on a ship no less.”“Do you all… obtain spices on this ship or is that~ not apart of this ships trade routes? Invest on shore or collect on water is what I’m asking.”
This is really funny because in some places, “cursie” is thrown around almost like a slur <:clueless:960333173466751036> It’s safe to say that Siobhan is not cursed. “Mm. I’m iffy on the use of magic, or the like, in the kitchen. But it’s proved useful.”
