Lent must periodically provide their sea witch with their blood to pay off their village’s “debt”. They can choose to provide with the blood of others, but it takes larger quantities and must be mixed in with their own. Their blood must be given to the sea, so any blood they lose on land is worthless. Though their witch usually only asks for blood at specific times (usually weekly), she may also get impatient or moody and request more. Due to this, Lent typically stays close to sea or travels solely by boat.
